Practices and Games
Games will be played at Oak Ridge Park located at the end of North Cummings lane. Games will begin the week of April 4th and end the week of May 9th. The coach will be responsible for scheduling practice times and every effort will be made to allow the coaches to schedule practice times a maximum of two weeks prior to the first game. Games will be scheduled one weeknight (the weeknight each league will play is determined after the registrations are complete and the number of teams is determined) and on Saturday morning.
In an effort to provide ALL soccer players in the Washington Park District program an opportunity to develop their fundamental soccer skills, academy sessions will be offered to all Washington Park District participants. The academy sessions are in addition to team practices scheduled by the individual coaches. Coaches are invited and encouraged to attend the academy sessions. The dates and times are as follows:
5-8 years: Sunday April 10, 17 and 24 3:00-3:45 PM;; Monday April 11, 18 & 25 - 5:30-6:15 PM
9-12 Years: Sunday April 10, 17 and 24 3:45-4:30 PM; Monday April 11, 18 and 25, 6:15-7:00 PM
Volunteer Coaches needed. Please consider volunteering as a coach. Many coaches are needed to make this a great program! We provide equipment, training, and resources. Please indicate on your child’s registration form if you are interested in coaching and be sure to provide an e-mail address and shirt size. Unfortunately, if not enough coaches volunteer, the program is forced to have large teams, reducing playing time or limiting the number of teams within the leagues. The coaches meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 15th.
Recreational Soccer Leagues - Fee $50 R/$55 NR Includes team jersey, soccer academy, participation award and lots of fun. In an effort to be consistent the Washington Park District follows the United States Soccer Federation's guidelines for the organization of youth soccer. Recently, the USSF announced changes to the guidelines beginning in 2016. One change the WPD will implement in the spring of 2016 is the age range for each league. THe age range for each league is as follows and hopefully will make it easier to determine the league where your child should play:
